PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Queen City Academy Charter School (QCA) hosted its Annual Read Across America Day. This event celebrates the birthday of Dr. Seuss and provides an opportunity to have every child reading in the company of a caring adult. Extra TV Personality, AJ Calloway, along with local dignitaries including Plainfield Councilwoman Rebecca Williams, and area police and fire officials were in attendance.
"Staff and students alike are excited about the occasion." said Danielle West, Chief Academic Officer. “When we work together as a community to encourage our children to read, to quote Dr. Seuss ‘there’s no limit to the places we can go.’”
QCA provides a solid academic program and has been educating scholars in the city of Plainfield for 17 years. It is with the support of community members that it exists and thrives in making the school a viable option for parents and scholars searching for a quality education. Volunteer guests have signed up to read with scholars in half-hour increments throughout the day. After reading, there will be a reception at the school in honor of the volunteers where they will have the opportunity to meet, greet, and share their reading experience.
QCA teaches classes from kindergarten to 8th grade. Through independent and collaborative learning, QCA aims to help their students develop self-esteem, self-discipline, emotional independence, respect for the environment, responsibility, respect for everyone, and academic independence.
