Unity Fest Community Health Fair

Queen City Academy Charter School (QCACS) of Plainfield, New Jersey will host a Unity Fest Community Health Fair on Saturday, June 16, 2018, to promote healthy lifestyles for kids and families of the Plainfield community.

The QCAC Unity Fest Community Health Fair is a collaborative effort to reach underserved communities that face health risks and seeks to be a vehicle to improve the overall health outlook through prevention, nutrition, exercise and healthy life choices.

“We realize that in order to educate our scholars we cannot look at them through a single lens and as such we seek to educate not just the scholar in our seats but also the family” stated Danielle West, Chief Academic Officer & Director of QCACS. “To that end, we know that health is wealth and often our communities which serve black and brown scholars are overrun with fast food options but are food desserts to those healthy brain foods that aid in their physical growth. For that reason, we find it vitally important that we educate our scholars and the community which is an extension of who they are on healthy lifestyle options.”

Partners for the QCACS Unity Fest Community Fair include The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the Boys & Girls Club on Union County, The YMCA, and the North Jersey Health Collaborative.

Featured Business: Studio 15 Young Plainfield Entrepreneurs Expand Business Once More

“What you see behind me is a life-changing project for myself that I have been working on since January 2017, nearly two years, discreetly; not sharing much about it with anybody. I've had plenty of reasons to give up on this truck; I purchased it pretty much from the ground up from Rashine Mobile, another local city entrepreneur. The truck had no steering column, no computer; it ...

People I've Known and Been: Little by Little by Rich Little

People I've Known and Been: Little by Little by Rich Little (Dog Ear Publishing, 2015)

Rich Little is a national treasure; a living encyclopedia of movie stars, comedians, and former presidents all wrapped into one dynamic package. Recently, my husband and I had the good fortune to see Little perform at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, where he has been doing his uncanny ...

Camino Island by John Grisham

Camino Island by John Grisham (Dell, 2017)

John Grisham is a very good story teller. His writing style is engaging, characters are usually well draw. But, somehow Camino Island, published in 2017, falls short of the rest of Grisham's work, and seems amateurish.

The novel begins with the heist of five precious manuscripts by F. Scott Fitzgerald from the Firestone Library at Princeton ...
