PLAINFIELD, NJ — The Frontiers International Plainfield Area Club will present its 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast. The breakfast, the longest running tribute to Dr. King in New Jersey, will be held Monday in the cafeteria and auditorium at Plainfield High School. First Lady Tammy Murphy will deliver remarks.
The guest speaker will be Bob Law, of WBAI Radio. The theme of Law's speech will be, "The Fierce Urgency of Now.”
The breakfast is an annual commemoration of the life of Dr. King, and highlights student groups, awards scholarships, and recognizes those in the community who have made outstanding contributions.
Honorees will receive Westry Service Awards. Westry Horne, one of the founders of the Plainfield chapter of Frontiers International, was an avid tennis player and master educator. The auditorium at Plainfield High School bears his name.
The breakfast is an event where the entire community can enjoy a delicious breakfast with entertainment, honor Plainfield’s finest, and pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The program begins at 8:30 a.m. at Plainfield High School, located at 950 Park Ave. Tickets are $15, and $10 for students and seniors. Purchase your tickets here.
