PLAINFIELD, NJ — Want to get into the holiday spirit?  Check out some events in and around Plainfield that may have you singing along to Jingle Bells, laughing all the way.  Take a look!

Stop by the plaza in front of City Hall, 515 Watchung Ave. on Friday for the annual holiday celebration.  The event starts at 6 p.m., and Santa will arrive at 6:45 p.m. for the gift distribution to children 12-years-old and younger.  Proof of residency is required.

Holy Savior Academy, 149 South Plainfield Ave. in South Plainfield, is hosting a Christmas Craft Fair and Dinner with Santa.  Vendors will be available from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Dinner with Santa will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Buy unique Christmas gifts for your family and friends.  Items include handmade items, jewelry, clothing, and more.  Learn more here.

Saturday offers a number of events.  Here is a sneak peek at some of them.

The Plainfield Symphony Orchestra is holding its annual holiday boutique at the Plainfield Country Club.  This year, the opportunity to shop will be combined with the chance to enjoy a champagne brunch.  There is free admission for those who want to just shop; tickets to the buffet brunch are $40 per person, and includes one glass of champagne. 

R.S.V.P. for brunch at info@plainfieldsymphony.org, and pay online at www.plainfieldsymphony.org or at the door.  Boutique hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The buffet brunch starts at 11 a.m.

The Plainfield Country Club is located at 1591 Woodland Ave. in Edison.

The opening reception for the Annual Exhibition of Small Paintings by Gallery Artists at Swain Galleries will be held on Saturday, 5 to 7 p.m.  The exhibition runs through December at 703 Watchung Ave.

You should also make time to stop by duCret School of Art.  Its holiday celebration on Saturday includes pictures with Santa, a bake sale, an ugly sweater contest, and a toy drive, too.
