PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Annual Music in the Park hosted by the New Outlook Pioneers took place at the Milt Campbell Field and did not disappoint the crowd that showed up for the star studded line up of artists.
The Plainfield Idol competition began promptly at 6 pm and showcased the talents of three young finalists. Up first was Ronnell Jackson who performed “For All we know” by Donny Hathaway and K’lynn Jackman performed her rendition of “Falling in Love”. Isaiah Cano took away the first prize trophy for his acappella rendition of “If I ever fall in love”. All three finalists were awarded cash prizes of $100 each. Robert K. Graham, sponsor of the Idol portion of the concert, vowed to up the stakes for next year’s competition and pledged to increase the cash prize to $1,000.
CP Lacey, "the Executioner" and Apollo Theatre legend, served as host and emcee for the concert, and transitioned into several impersonations throughout the evening including Flava Flav, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Rick James and others. Latin star Ximena Ibarra took to the stage with dancers, followed by the Intruders who performed favorite hits including “Cowboys and Girls” and “I’ll always love my Mama.” Double Exposure wrapped up the evening with the hit that put them on the music scene, “Ten Percent”.
"Music in the Park" is a free annual community event hosted by Pat Fields and the New Outlook Pioneers. This year's event focussed on a school supply drive which attendees were encouraged to donate. Twenty boxes of supplies were collected at the concert entrances and will be distribute to various schools in Union County.

Mapp,New Outlook Pioneers, Rackson Restaurants LLC, Re/Max Select - Sandra Chambers, Owner of The Chambers Elite Group, McDonalds Plainfield and Mr. Plainfield.
