PLAINFIELD, NJ — The Annual Doggie Howl Halloween contest took place in the parking lot at City Hall on Saturday. Three contestants showed up in full outfits, proudly wearing their costumes. Despite only a few participants, donations were collected for the Plainfield Area Humane Society.
Veronica Taylor, Director of the Department of Recreation, and staff welcomed the contestants and reminded the residents of many volunteer opportunities to assist with the animals at the Humane Society.
Popeye and owners Mr. & Mrs. Graham took home the trophy for “Best Dressed Small Dog.” The trophy for “Best Dressed Duo, parent and pet” went to Shaka, who was dressed as a pirate, and his owners Mr. and Mrs. Jackson also in costume.
The city will hold its Trunk or Treat Halloween event this Thursday starting at 6 p.m., also in the City Hall parking lot, 515 Watchung Ave.
