PLAINFIELD, NJ — Mrs. Banks is a teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Plainfield with a campaign that will reach 24 students; over three in four of these students come from low-income households.

Mrs. Banks wants all of her students to know she believes in them, and she knows they can do anything they put their minds to. Her campaign needs just $569, and with a match by the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, she only needs $285. However, her campaign expires in five days.

"These books will give my students the opportunity to read books that have characters that look like them and these books are in their language."

According to Mrs. Banks, "I have the privilege of teaching a beautifully diverse class from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. I would like to improve my library so it does provide students with a greater reflection of their diversity. This project is especially important because the books I have chosen are in their primary language, Spanish."

Project Title: Spanish Diversity Books in the Classroom!

Teacher: Mrs. Banks

School: Jefferson Elementary School

Total Project Cost: $590.58

Still Needed: $569; however, with the current match by the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, only $285 is needed. This match expires November 21.
