Civil Rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.

PLAINFIELD, NJ – In the United States, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a federal holiday observed on the third Monday of January each year to pay tribute to the achievements of the non-violent Civil Rights leader and spokesperson, the Rev. Mapp and First Lady Amelia Mapp will host Plainfield residents in their home for the Ninth Annual MLK Food Drive and Potluck Celebration to honor the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  New, non-perishable food items and toiletries are being collected for the Shiloh Baptist Church Food Pantry.  Bring a potluck food dish to share with neighbors!  The location is 535 W.
