On Monday, July 6 The Plainfield Public Library will begin a new STEAM based series called Science and Me with Dr. G, PhD. In collaboration with Bright Endeavors Now (BEN) and BEN Co-Founder, Dr. Regina Herbert, the library will introduce an array of fun lab and kitchen science experiments that will keep children engaged.
Plainfield resident, Dr. Regina Herbert aka Dr. G will host the series. Dr. Herbert has a PhD in Molecular Biology from Northwestern University and a diverse research background in the biomedical sciences. She is currently an Adjunct Professor in the STEM Division of Union County College and has studied and researched in the areas of cancer biology, virology, and bacteriology at a variety of institutions including Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Rutgers University Medical School Center for Emerging Pathogens.
In addition to her research experience, Dr. Herbert has over twenty years of teaching experience at the university level. After having three children (all under the age of 8), Dr. Herbert saw the need for STEAM based programing for children in the Pre-K through 2nd grade age group and decided to start BEN, a Science Education Consultant Company.
The first episode of Science and Me with Dr.G, PhD will be posted on Monday and will be up for the entire week for viewing. Episodes can be viewed on the library's YouTube Page.
