PLAINFIELD, NJ — The Plainfield Board of Education's virtual Business Meeting will be held later than usual tonight, and the agenda includes controversial personnel items.
Superintendent Dr. Diana Mitchell, due to a significant reduction in State aid, has determined the district needs to initiate a Reduction in Force, or RIF, for both teaching and non-teaching staff members for the 2020-2021 school year.
The agenda states the Board of Education has reviewed the plan, and has concluded it is "fair and reasonable." (See agenda page 89.)
The Plainfield Education Association, or PEA, has been highlighting people who are affected by these decisions.
Eighty-nine full-time positions, according to the agenda (beginning on page 43) are slated to become part-time jobs for the upcoming school year, affecting employee health benefits.
