PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Plainfield Board of Education will convene in a public session Tuesday, June 13 at 8:00 pm.  The agenda notes that action may be taken.

At the board's May 8 meeting, a vote was taken that represented a non-renewal of Dr. Debra J. Sheard, the Acting Superintendent, to her original position as Assistant Superintendent.

As it was explained at the May 16 meeting, Sheard has not been in the district long enough to attain tenure.  When a non-tenured staff member is non-renewed, that person can request a Statement of Reasons, and then request an Informal Appearance before the Board of Education.  The purpose is to try to convince the board to overturn its decision to not renew.  Dr. Sheard has requested both.  This means the board will be asked to vote again on whether or not Dr. Sheard should be renewed.
