PLAINFIELD, NJ - Plainfield candidates for Board of Education election to be held on November 5th, 2019, must file their nomination petitions by this Monday, July 29th before 4 pm at the Elizabeth office of the County Clerk. Three 3-year seats will be up for grabs this fall: Carmencita Pile, Lynn Anderson and Eric Andrews.
Last July 1, 2018, a NJ state law was passed allowing candidates to circulate petitions jointly and allows one or two candidates to be bracketed together. Candidates will also be allowed short three word maximum slogans and will also have to file a specific affirmation regarding their criminal backgrounds.
According to Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi, “Service on a school board provides the public with an opportunity to contribute to the community. As a former board member, I encourage involvement in this important civic duty. Interested applicants should make note of the deadline.”
More information about school board petitions, including a qualifications and instructions for filing the downloadable petition, are available on the County Clerk’s elections website online at unioncountyvotes.com/candidate-petition.
