PLAINFIELD, NJ — Plainfield voters chose Steve Hockaday and Charles McRae, according to the official results for the July 7 Primary Election, for the At-Large and Third Ward seats, respectively, and their names will appear on November's General Election ballot. Following is a breakdown of the results for Plainfield and Union County Freeholder races.

A total of 6,665 votes were cast for the At-Large seat, with Steve Hockaday, who currently represents the Fourth Ward, garnering 69.4%, or 4,622 votes. David Rutherford received 1,784 votes, or 26.8%, and Robert Graham received 253 (3.8%).

A closer look at the data shows there are 24,582 registered voters in Plainfield. Yet according to the official results, only 27.1% of these registered voters cast a vote, with just 6 out of 34 districts reporting.

Incumbent Charles McRae received over two-thirds of the vote in the Third Ward race (1,438 votes, or 68.1%). Emily Morgan received 671 votes, or 31.8%. There are 6,749 registered voters in the Third Ward, with only two out of ten districts reporting.

In the Union County Freeholders race, Angela Garretson (52,988 votes, or 27.0%), Lourdes Leon (50,016, or 25.4%), and Christopher Hudak (47,927, or 24.4%) garnered the greatest number of votes.
