PLAINFIELD, NJ – A small crowd of family and friends gathered outside to help owner and chef, Ermelin Saqe officially open Jessica’s Café and Wood Fired Pizza on Sunday.

“Thank you everyone for being here. We hope it’s a success and we appreciate all of your support,” Saqe said as he and his wife cut the ceremonial red ribbon before holding a toast to the weekend-long grand opening celebration.

Jessica’s Café, named for Saqe’s wife first opened its doors June 11th to rave reviews and serves a seasonal menu of Italian and French inspired dishes including stuffed rice balls, classic wood fired meatballs, short rib paninis, pastas, foie gras, specialty pizzas and desserts made on-site.

“We try to always use fresh ingredients” such as Naples Caputo flour and San Marzano tomatoes from locally sourced vendors, said Saqe. “Now that we’ve done the grand opening we plan to go with a full menu and have specials every week.”

Located at 150 Terrill Road in Plainfield, not far from Route 22, Saqe said the response from the community so far has been tremendous.

“The town has shown great support,” he said. “Everybody from Plainfield, Fanwood, Scotch Plains has shown great support for our restaurant so far.

“We hope to get the word out as much as possible and we want people to come and try us,” said Saqe, adding how he hopes to be able to help the community in return. “We will not let you down. Thank you for your support.”

Jessica’s Café and Wood Fired Pizza is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday.
