PLAINFIELD, NJ - Netherwood Heights Neighbors (NHN), a Plainfield neighborhood association, has announced its plans for their 10th annual food drive to benefit Plainfield Action Services families this holiday season.
Each year, NHN aims to purchase a ham and turkey for ten to fourteen families identified by Plainfield Action Services (PAS). The remainder of the food in the prepared baskets is donated by area residents.
Once again, neighbor Laura Kayser is spearheading the initiative, working as the liaison with PAS, whose mission is to provide services to Plainfield's low-income families and individuals regardless of ethnicity, religion or race through programs, direct monetary assistance (when available), information and referrals.
Suggested food items include canned goods, rice and pasta, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, and other new and non-expired non-perishable food.
Donated items can be dropped off at 1116 Loraine Avenue in the Netherwood section of Plainfield beginning Wednesday, November 23rd through Thursday, December 15th.
Volunteers will then assemble the food baskets, and deliveries will be made on Saturday, December 17th.
