PLAINFIELD, NJ — Members of Plainfield’s planning board welcomed professional municipal planner, Malvika “Mika” Apte to the board at their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday.
Her appointment as a consultant comes as Bill Nierstedt, Plainfield’s director of planning leaves the board to focus on the city’s master plan, said chairman, Ron Scott Bey.
“Because of the amount of work that’s happening in the city, that puts too much pressure on him (Nierstedt) to have to do these meetings, review the plans, plus the master plan, so the city decided to hire CME’s (Consulting and Municipal Engineers),” said Scott Bey adding that Apte will also work with the city’s zoning board.
Apte, who has worked with other municipal boards in the state will work with Plainfield city planners for the remainder of the year reviewing site plans that come before the board.
