PLAINFIELD, NJ — As the calendar turns to 2020, reorganization meetings will be held among Plainfield's City Council, the school district's Board of Education, and the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
Monday, January 6, 2020, has been designated as the council's reorganization date. It will take place at 7 p.m. in Municipal Court, 325 Watchung Ave.
Currently, Councilwoman-at-Large, Second and Third Wards, Joylette Mills-Ransome is Council President, and Fourth Ward Councilman Steve Hockaday is Vice President. Sean McKenna will replace Councilman Cory Storch in the new year to represent the Second Ward.
The Board of Education will reorganize on Tuesday, January, 7, 2020, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Plainfield High School, 950 Park Ave. Currently, Richard Wyatt is Board President, and Cameron Cox is Vice President.
The board will go into executive session at 7 p.m., followed by a Work & Study at 8 p.m. in the conference room.
An installation ceremony for Union County freeholders Bette Jane Kowalski, Sergio Granados, Plainfield's own Rebecca Williams, and Surrogate James LaCorte will be held at noon in the county courthouse, 2 Broad St. Elizabeth.
Currently, Kowalski is Freeholder Chair, and Alexander Mirabella is Freeholder Vice Chair.
