PLAINFIELD, NJ — Plainfield's Historic Preservation Commission is set to meet Tuesday, July 28, and a new business agenda item includes a hearing on a Capital Improvement Road Reconstruction project crossing through historic districts.
Road improvements on Prospect Avenue, from East Ninth Street to Woodland Avenue would include milling and paving, curbing, driveway aprons, handicap ramps, selected sidewalk repairs, tree removal, and restoration work, according to the HPC's agenda.
According to the Certificate of Appropriateness application, with plans prepared by Pennoni Associates, "no construction, maintenance or utility work on, under or above the project location which will obstruct, interfere with and/or detour traffic from the road, shall be performed before 8 a.m. or after 4 p.m. Monday through Friday."
Additionally, existing privately installed items such as fences and landscaping that need to be removed in order to perform the work "shall be carefully removed and reinstalled at a location acceptable to the owner and the engineer," and any damaged items will be replaced in kind.
According to the application notes, the contractor will complete the work within 60 days from the date of notice to proceed.
The public will have an opportunity to comment. For more information, visit the HPC's page on the city website.
