PLAINFIELD, NJ — Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey, Inc., according to a legal notice, is scheduled to appear before Plainfield's Zoning Board of Adjustments for bulk variance approval to construct a new residential dwelling for developmentally disabled adults. The company, founded in 1953, serves infants, children and adults across New Jersey.

According to its website, Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey, Inc. is now Pillar Care Continuum, "dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence and participation in the community."
The proposed site address is 1220-24 Salem Road, on an empty corner lot at Whittingham Terrace, and is located in a Low/Moderate Density Residential (R-3) Zone.
Salem Road is just off Randolph Road, with Hub Stine Field across the street.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that on the 7th day of October, 2020 at 7:00 P.M., a hearing will be held before the Plainfield Zoning Board of Adjustment on the application of CEREBRAL PALSY OF NORTH JERSEY, INC. for bulk variance approval required to construct a new residential dwelling thereupon as a residence for developmentally disabled adults.
The following variance relief is being sought: - Minimum lot area, where 12,000 square feet is required and 9,660 square feet is proposed - Minimum lot width, where 100 feet is required, and 83 feet is proposed - Minimum lot frontage, where 100 feet is required, and 83 feet is proposed - Maximum lot coverage, where 40% is required and 44.5% is proposed - Variance for three proposed parking spots in the front yard where none are permitted - Variance for proposed parking not in front of any garage where none is permitted and for any other relief which may arise during the course of the hearing.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the subject site is located at 1220-24 Salem Road and is designated as Block 13, Lot 4 on the Official Tax Map of the City of Plainfield, and located in a Low/Moderate Density Residential (R-3) Zone.
The Plainfield Zoning Board of Adjustment will conduct a virtual public hearing on this matter on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Any person or persons affected by this application will have an opportunity to present any objections to or offer comments on the proposed development. The Board does, however, have the right to exclude repetitious testimony.
It is requested that anyone who anticipates undertaking cross-examination, introducing evidence and/or making public comment on any application advise the Board Secretary by email or phone in advance of the virtual meeting date.
