PLAINFIELD, NJ — A legal notice published on Thursday, Oct. 24 highlights an application for development of a bakery and coffee shop that will come before Plainfield's Zoning Board.  The business would be located on the first floor, and include an additional three floors of residential apartments on a presently vacant property at 123-129 East 5th St.

The number of apartments to be built is not included in the notice.  However, it does note the minimum number of parking spaces required is 27, and 11 are proposed.

Queen City Coffee Roasters, a new specialty coffee house and roastery that had a soft opening in September, is just a five-minute walk away from this address, at 200 Court Pl.  A ribbon cutting ceremony for that business is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 31 at noon.

PLAINFIELD NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING In accordance with the Ordinances of the City of Plainfield, and the Statutes of the State of New Jersey, Notice is hereby served upon you that an application for development No. ZB 2019-12, located in a TODD/CLAD Zone District, on the premises known as 123-129 East 5th St. Plainfield, NJ, Block 839, Lot 4 has been submitted by 123-129 East 5th Street LLC, of 6404 Smith Ave. North Bergen, NJ 07047. The development involves the conversation of the presently vacant property into a Bakery/coffee shop on the first floor and adding three (3) floors to the property for residential apartments and requires the granting of preliminary and final Site Plan approval, Relief from Zone requirements as follows Maximum Floor Are Ratio permitted is 3.5, and 3.74 is proposed; Minimum front yard setback is 10 feet is required, ands 0 is provided, which is an existing condition; Minimum rear yard setback is 10 feet required, and 0 is proposed, which is an existing condition; Minimum number of parking spaces required is 27, and 11 are proposed.
