PLAINFIELD, NJ — City Council members will meet Monday at 7 p.m. via Zoom for its July Combined Meeting. Join the Zoom Meeting Here. Following is a look at what's on the agenda, including a Department of Finance chapter 159 resolution R212-20 to seek approval to amend the CY 2020 budget to include seven revenue items totaling $327,029.65. The Council approved the 2020 budget last month.

Fire department resolution acknowledgements include grants for PPE, or Personal Protective Equipment, for $334,927.27 and $280,844.09; a grant for $11,000 for biohazard training through the Gary Sinise Foundation; and a regional grant with North Plainfield and South Plainfield for a technical extrication equipment trailer and training in the amount of $4154,847.82. A resolution to award NJSB Construction a $57,995 grant to remodel/reconstruct the bathrooms and shower at Fire Headquarters is also on the agenda.

The Department of Economic Development includes a resolution (R223-20) to amend the area in need of redevelopment for "scattered owned city parking lots to rescind the designation of certain property" at Block 318, Lot 6, as a non-condemnation redevelopment area.

Resolution R224-20 would designate 803 South Avenue Urban Renewal, LLC, as the redeveloper for property at 757-819 South Avenue, and authorize the execution of a redevelopment agreement.

Resolution 228-20 authorizes an agreement with Femenella & Associates, Inc. to restore and glaze stained-glass windows at the Plainfield Performing Arts center for $33,665.

A resolution (R229-20) would authorize an agreement with the Plainfield Area Humane Society to provide animal control services for the city beginning August 1 through July 31, 2021, not to exceed $50,000.

The introduction of ordinances on first reading include:

  • The adoption of a redevelopment plan for the scattered city-owned parking lots and adjacent lots redevelopment area;
  • An ordinance to adopt a redevelopment plan for the South Avenue Corridor redevelopment area;
  • An ordinance to adopt the TODD-West Redevelopment Plan amendment, dated June 4, 2020;
  • And an ordinance to amend Chapter 9, Licenses, Permits and Regulated Activities, Article 15, on taxicabs.
