PLAINFIELD, NJ — Enjoy a lecture sponsored by the Plainfield Shade Tree Commission with Bruce Crawford, a longtime proponent of unusual and fun plants. A discussion on "Perennials for Your Year Round Interest" will be held at duCret School of Art.
Crawford is the Director of Rutgers Gardens, the botanical garden for Rutgers University, and is an adjunct professor in Landscape Architecture at the university. A graduate of Bucknell University, he also lectures frequently. Seating is limited at this special event.

The Shade Tree Commission aids in protecting and establishing trees in the city, and has the power to regulate the planting and protection of shade trees. The commission has the authority to regulate the planting, care and control of shade or ornamental trees and shrubbery in or on the streets, public places, parks and parkways in Plainfield. It also advises both the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment on Shade Tree concerns on public property and along public rights-of-way, and works closely with the Department of Public Works.
