PLAINFIELD, NJ - Springpoint Senior Living, in partnership with the City of Plainfield and the United Way of Greater Union County, is hosting Plainfield Seniors-Living Healthy. The event launches Lifelong Plainfield, an initiative that designates the City of Plainfield as an age-friendly community.

The event will be held on May 17 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Plainfield Towers West, located at 601 West 7th Street.  Mayor Adrian O. Mapp will officially launch the initiative and outline why creating an age-friendly community is vital.

The launch of Lifelong Plainfield also coincides with Older Americans Month. Every day in America, over 10,000 people turn 65 This free event will provide seniors and those who support them with services that are available in their community.

Lifelong Plainfield, funded by the Grotta Foundation for Senior Care, seeks to identify services, resources, and policies to make Plainfield a more age-friendly community. The goal is to increase awareness and foster the development of policies and services designed to help seniors to live safely, enjoy good health and stay active and involved.

The event will feature various local organizations to discuss and demonstrate the services they provide.  Several of the featured vendors include Safelink, Union County Department of Aging, and United Way of Greater Union County. Other interactive activities include healthy food cooking demonstrations, using social media, and Zumba!
