PLAINFIELD, NJ — The Plainfield Public Schools district issued an advisory that the Dewitt D. Barlow Elementary School, located at Farragut Rd. and East Front St., went into shelter in place status on Monday morning due to a suspicious individual in the vicinity.
In addition to the response TAPinto Plainfield received from the district, a message was posted on its Facebook page:
This morning, we received a report from the Plainfield Police Department that there was a community member possibly causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. As a precautionary measure, the school went into a "shelter in place" status. All students and staff of Barlow are safe; the school has resumed a normal schedule and everyone is back in class. We want to send a special thank you to the Plainfield Police Department and the Director of School Security, Troy Edwards for promptly investigating this concern.
