SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The anticipated Nor'easter took longer to hit the area but its fury came nonetheless as high winds and wet weather have knocked over a tree onto Route 22 West near Westfield Road in Scotch Plains this afternoon.

"Route 22 is completely blocked. Find an alternative route," advises Scotch Plains Police Chief Ted Conley.

The National Weather Service predicts heavy snow to continue in and around Scotch Plains-Fanwood until about 8:00 p.m.
