Metuchen, NJ — The Plainfield Junior Cardinals 7th Grade basketball team is headed towards competing for a three-peat championship in the Jersey Basketball Association's Red Division title on Thursday. The game will be played at Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen at 6:30 p.m.
The team, led by Plainfield resident Brian Parker, is a perfect 17-0 entering the contest. The Junior Cardinals will face Summit in the championship if they upset No. 2 seed Basking Ridge. Plainfield defeated Summit 63-34 in January at Maxson Middle School.
Plainfield Board of Education Vice President Terence Johnson told TAPinto Plainfield, "Coach Parker has the team fired up to finish the season strong; they have dedicated the season to Kobe Bryant and the kids are locked in. It won't surprise me if Plainfield High School benefits from this group of guys in the next 4-6 years, and we will be playing at the RAC (Rutgers Athletic Center)."
Saint Joseph High School is located at 145 Plainfield Avenue in Metuchen.
