PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Yale University's first-ever NCAA Tournament men's basketball victory on Thursday happened in large part due to the efforts of a Plainfield, N.J., native.

Senior forward Justin Sears, a graduate of Plainfield High School, scored 18 points as 12th-seeded Yale upset fifth-seeded Baylor, 79-75, in the opening round of the West Region of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

Sears hit 7 of 10 shots from the floor, grabbed four rebounds, passed for three assists and blocked a shot for the Ivy League Bulldogs (23-6). Sears averaged 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds during the regular season, which concluded with Yale winning the Ivy League title.

Yale had never won an NCAA Tournament game prior to Thursday.
