CRANFORD, NJ - An election to fill the vacancy created by Linda Carter’s departure to the Assembly was held at a Union County Democratic Committee convention on Thursday, led by Chairman Nick Scutari.

The UCDC chair called on Plainfield Chairman Adrian O. Mapp, who nominated Councilwoman Rebecca Williams.

In brief remarks, Williams thanked everyone in attendance.  She said, “I would like to thank the Plainfield Democrats in the house,” to a round of applause.

"And I would like to thank all of the rest of you in the other municipalities.  I've spoken to, I believe, every chair, and I’ve been going around and meeting a number of the committee members.”

Williams said that she is known for her high quality constituent service, and she hopes to provide that same level of service at the county level. is Plainfield's free online daily newspaper for Plainfield, NJ news.
