PLAINFIELD, NJ -- A tornado watch is in effect until 4:00 p.m. for Union County, according to an update from the National Weather Service.

Tropical Storm Isaias will track through our area today. A total of 1 to 3 inches of rain will be possible with locally higher amounts of up to 5 inches, the National Weather Service advices. Torrential downpours with multiple rounds of heavy showers will allow for excessive runoff and could cause flash flooding in low-lying, urban and poor drainage areas. Some rivers and streams across the path of the heavier rainfall axis could experience minor to moderate rises resulting in possible road closures and inundation of structures near the streams.
