ROSELLE/ELIZABETH, NJ - Last week, the Roselle Active Seniors, who range in age from 50 to almost 100, gathered at the Anthony Amalfe Community Center to assemble Easter baskets to be donated to children who are part of the Child/Adolescent Behavioral Health Programs at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth.

When Pamela Rey talks about her group, she likes to say we’re "like a big happy family."

"Some of our members don’t get to see their grandchildren for the holidays, so giving to others helps," says Rey, who is enjoying her second term as president of the senior group. "These people are so excited, and we had so many donations that we had to send someone out for more baskets!"

Carol Lauch, a Family Advocate at Trinitas, participated by delivering baskets to the medical center that will be given out to the children on Easter Sunday.

"The children on the Child Inpatient Unit at our New Point Campus will have a very special Easter thanks to the Roselle Active Seniors group," says Lauch. "It's sad to be in the hospital during the holidays, and, in some ways, it's probably even harder for a child. These thoughtful gifts will let the children know that there are people in the community who really do care."
