RAHWAY, NJ - Saturday night at the Union County Performing Arts Center, comedian Steve Treviño will take the Main Stage and bring about a whole theater’s worth of frenzied laughter. Or rather, he’ll be keeping the audience laughing once the opening act, Angelo Lozada, starts them off with a punch! Hailed as one of the top 50 Latino comedians in the U.S., Angelo Lozada attributes his Bronx upbringing for his comedic style. His career has included stand up, sketch comedy, writing, theatre and film.
Currently, Angelo is the warm up comedian for Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. He also tours with Trevor across the country, performing in front of sold out theatres which include The Kennedy Center (D.C.), The Dolby Theatre (L.A.) and The Beacon Theatre (N.Y.)
Angelo also co-created and starred in the award winning web series GET SOME!, a series that earned him 3 nominations for Best Actor in a webseries at the Official Latino Short Film Festival, the Int'l Academy Of Web Television (IAWTV) and NBC's Short Cuts Film Festival.
Angelo founded the acclaimed Comedy Troupe Nuyorican Rule. Based in NYC, the troupe had a successful 12 year run. Its mix of irreverent and socio-political sketches was seen on New Joke City with Robert Klein as well as featured for a season on NBC's Showtime At The Apollo.
Angelo's stand up TV credits include Showtime At The Apollo, BET's ComicView (twice), Martin Lawrence's 1st Amendment and AXSTV's Gotham Comedy Live.
Proud to perform in both English and Spanish, Angelo enjoys using his Puerto Rican Heritage to unite folks of all backgrounds to understand the human experience through laughter.
