Girl’s Tennis - Bulldogs Sweep Rahway (5-0)


SPRINGFIELD, NJ – All five courts from Jonathan Dayton closed out their matches against Rahway.

First singles Fabiana Surez had a tight match. She won the first set (7-6) in a tiebreaker (7-4).  Rahway’s top player fought back to win the second set (6-2).  The two played a 10- point tiebreaker to determine the match. Surez finished strong winning (10-6). 

Melanie Schickler, second singles, was the first one off the court with her (6-0) (6-0) win. She was followed by third singles Rachel Engel who won (6-1) (6-0).

First and second doubles for the Bulldogs were strong too. Destiny Martins and Seana Flood played first doubles and closed with a (6-2) (6-0) win. Second doubles Sophia Ritter and swing player Jordyn Engel completed their match with a (6-1) (6-3) win.

The Bulldogs are back again on their home turf Thursday at 4 p.m. against Oak Knoll.
