SUMMIT, NJ - The annual Susan G. Komen North Jersey Pink Tie Party fundraiser affair is coming up.

The event, which will be held Friday, March 16 at The Grove in Cedar Grove, is focused on raising funds to support Komen’s BOLD GOAL:  to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. by 50% by the year 2026, by improving access to quality and timely cancer care, and enhancing Komen’s national research focus on the most lethal types of breast cancers.

Co-chairs of the event are Michele Caselnova of Sparta and Tim and Connie Harbison of Hillsborough. The evening will pay tribute to 15-year veteran volunteer Jennie Silecchia of Chatham (Individual Honoree), Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Corporate Honoree) and Pfizer (Medical Honoree). Patty Steele, co-host of the 101.1/WCBS-FM morning radio show "Scott Shannon in the Morning" will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

Steele is a four-year breast cancer survivor.

“In some way, everyone has been impacted by breast cancer. We must continue to work tirelessly to detect, treat and ultimately prevent this awful disease,” said Kevin P. Conlin, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Komen New Jersey, and proud of our partnership with Susan G. Komen both locally and nationally,” said Matthew Shaulis, Regional President, North America, for Pfizer Oncology.

Silecchia has been a vital and devoted member of the “family,” for 15 years, volunteering several days a week as an office assistant, working on almost every signature fundraising event, in addition to day-to-day activities.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $400; tables of 10 may be purchased for $4,000.

To purchase tickets, email pinktie@komennorthjersey.org, call 908-277-2904, or visit www.komennorthjersey.org/pinktie.
