RAHWAY, NJ - The Main Stage Café, a full service coffee shop located inside the Union County Performing Arts Center, has started offering artistic events and performances for the community.
In partnership with Just Be You Productions, UCPAC’s Main Stage Café has extended its hours of operation to include a variety of evening programs. The event lineup includes live music performances, open-mic cabarets, stand-up comedy and much more.
"We are very excited about using the Café and our historic lobby as an expanded venue to allow more intimate events to our programming. The space has allowed many local and amateur artists to present themselves in a cost effective and artistic environment,” said Brian Remo, Executive Director of the Union County Performing Arts Center.
Coming this fall, the Café will continue its new events that kicked off over the summer with
- Script N’Sip, a free program for those who love poetry;
- Monologue Mania, a showcase of mini-plays and monologues;
- Acoustic Night will feature live music by emerging vocalists and bands;
- The Twisted Masquerade Cabaret, a fun spin on cabaret style singing; and
- Cracking Up in Rahway, a hilarious stand-up comedy event for amateur comics.
“I am thrilled to partner with UCPAC to offer emerging artists a great venue to perform in. There’s something for everybody. For young artists, this is a great opportunity to strengthen their performing skills in front of a live audience,” said Mahogany Reynolds-Clarke, Executive Director of Just Be You Productions and the Café events promoter.
A main event coming soon to the Café is the fashion showcase The Runway in Rahway on Nov. 5 that will feature clothing designs from local boutiques. The runway show will also include live music and vendors. The goal of this event is to bring awareness to the variety of boutiques in Rahway. “I am thrilled to be a part of the upcoming fashion show because it's going to be fabulous. It's very important to support small businesses. Every giant corporation started out as a small business,” said Sherry Hurtado, Owner of Anyae’s Intimate Apparel, located in downtown Rahway.
