Mayor Samson D. Steinman Takes Medical Leave

Mayor Samson Steinman took medical leave after he was in a second accident in less than a year.

Rahway, NJ - According to a statement sent out by the City of Rahway on Tuesday, Mayor Samson D. Steinman began his medical leave on March 20 to "address series of personal issues that began during childhood. He will be in a therapeutic setting which will allow him to focus on healing," the statement continued.

"The Mayor's decision was brought on, in part, by his recent auto accident that fortunately did not cause any personal injury," according to the statement. "The Mayor volunteered and passed a sobriety test, yet the event reinforced the Mayor's commitment to focus on his health."

The date of the recent accident is unknown, but published reports said the accident occurred on Saturday. The mayor's office did not confirm the date of the accident.
