Rahway's West Headed to World Junior Track & Field Championships in the Shot Put as Member of U.S. National Team

RAHWAY, NJ - Jordan West of Rahway, a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, is headed to Finland to compete in the shot put for the USA at the IAAF World U20 track and field championships set for July 10 to 15.

West placed second in the shot put last month to earn a spot on the USA team for the IAAF World U20 Championships. He threw the shot 21.16 meters/69 feet, 5.25 inches to place second in the meet held June 16 in Indiana, gaining a spot on the U.S. National Team for junior championships in Finland.

During the college season, West finished 12th overall in the shot put at the NCAA championships last month, earning second-team All-America honors.  At the SEC championships held in May, West took third in the shot put, breaking the University of Tennessee school record with a throw of 19.79 meters/64 feet, 11.25 inches.
