RAHWAY, NJ — This week was Teacher Appreciation Week, and TAPinto Rahway covered several events and activities in the district's many schools. We had a Mister Softee ice cream truck at the high school, a pizza truck at Franklin Elementary, and a host of other noteworthy things designed to let the educators in town know how much they are valued and noticed.
Not to be outdone, Roosevelt Elementary School also wanted to get in on the action and let TAPinto Rahway know about some of the good things taking place there for Teacher Appreciation Week. Technology Facilitator Colleen Kurdyla put the full-court press on us, sending us video, photographs, and information about the week they had over at Roosevelt.
We think the attached photographs really speak for themselves, but additionally, teachers were celebrated and acknowledged by two very special notes of gratitude. The Roosevelt Elementary PTA wrote a letter to "Our Dear Roosevelt Family" and told faculty members how much they were loved. The letter read, in part, "We know our children and families are better for having had you in our lives and homes through virtual learning."
The letter went on to say, "We are truly grateful for the impact you have made in our children's lives. We thank you for the continued support, smiles and never-ending fight you have shown us all to keep us going and growing throughout the year."
Roosevelt's principal, Ms. Arina Robinson, and vice principal, Ms. Tong-ya Clay, also had something they wanted to tell their teachers. They too had a lovely note expressing their thanks, but they also included a creative addition. Their note came with a marker attached to it. On the marker was a smiley face sticker. The note explained the rest.
It read, in a poem format, "Just a little note of appreciation for all your hard work and dedication. Take this marker and know you add to the colorful rainbow of our school community. Make a wish just for you. When the sticker falls off, may your wish come true."
May all the wishes of all our teachers come true! But if not, summer is closer than you think.
