RANDOLPH, NJ- Randolph baseball teams’ offense opened up to the tune of ten runs in each of their last two games, resulting in victories that brought them back to within one game of .500
Against rival Roxbury on Tuesday May 5, James Bertelle led the way on both the mound and at the plate. Bertelle notched seven strikeouts over four innings on the mound, while also going 2-for3 with two runs and two RBI at the plate.
The Rams spread the hits around, racking up 15 on the game, as many other players had multi hit games. Stu Backer was 3-for4 with three RBI, followed by Jack Carroll, Nick Ferragine, John Melillo, and Matt Sacco who all tallied two hits apiece. Peter Huber pitched three innings of scoreless relief.
Randolph took a 3-0 lead, but the Gaels cut that to 3-2 in the fourth inning. It was all Rams from there, as they scored in the 5th, 6th and 7th to run away with the game and take a 10-2 victory.
On Wed May 6, the Rams blanked Parsippany Hills 10-0, behind a monster game from Mike Pine. Going 3-for-3, with two doubles and a triple, Pine racked up an impressive seven RBI on the game. Matt Sacco and John Melillo both went 2-for3, with Sacco adding an RBI.
Connor Sullivan threw five innings of shutout ball, giving up only two hits and earning the win.
