RANDOLPH, NJ - On Sunday, May 18, there are two events providing Randolph residents the opportunity to get out and support a good cause. Both events will provide entertainment and a “feel good” sense of giving back and helping others in need.
At 3:00 PM, at Brundage Park, Randolph is hosting “Challenger” Baseball games. This event is for Morris County children aged 6-21 who have physical or mental disabilities, and provides them the opportunity to play baseball. Randolph youth volunteers ( ages 11 and older ) will be out on the field as “Buddies” assisting the players and helping them navigate the game.
There will be a second game at 5:00 PM in which the older Challenger league players compete against the volunteer buddies. In this game, the volunteers play under adapted rules, such as using their non dominant hands, hopping instead of running, and other fun changes. Everyone is encouraged to come out to watch and support the games. It is a day of fun for the kids, and valuable life lessons for all involved.
From 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM, at Taste Bistro on Route 10 E, is the second annual TEAM SEAN Bands Together Against Brain Tumors fund raiser. TEAMSean is dedicated to supporting 7-year-old Morris County resident Sean Ries as he battles a brain tumor, and to spreading awareness about childhood cancer.
Four different bands will be playing live music, and there will be many fun games and activities for kids in attendance. A percentage of the proceeds from any food and drinks will be donated to the cause by the restaurant. Anyone planning to go out for lunch or dinner on Sunday, is encouraged to do it at Taste, where they can meet Sean and his family, and help support them as they battle this disease.
