Venturing out, especially with your little ones, during COVID can be a daunting proposition. The dedicated doctors and staff at Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph understand this and have made the safety of all visitors to their office paramount. In a conversation with Dr. Aaron Mannella, the founder of Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph and head of Pediatric Dentistry at Morristown Medical Center, he reminds parents that even during this pandemic, it is recommended to continue regular dental cleanings and exams for children. “Semi-annual dental visits are vital to the long-term oral health of children and postponing oral care can lead to larger long-term problems”. Dr. Mannella also explained the many ways his office is working to keep both patients and staff safe during this challenging time.
They do so by following the very latest in safety recommendations from the state of New Jersey, the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Pediatric Dentists (AAPD), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). All visitors to the office are required to complete a COVID screening questionnaire just prior to their visit, and have their temperatures taken upon entering the office. Upon arrival, it is evident immediately that they have made numerous changes to enhance safety, including patients needing to call from their cars before entering the office to ensure social distancing, plexi-glass barriers at the reception desk, and Dentists and Hygienists all outfitted in additional PPE.
Behind the scenes, Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph’s normally stringent methods of disinfection and sterilization of dental instruments are being strictly maintained. Their commitment to safety during COVID does not stop there. They have also purchased a variety of equipment to combat any aerosol droplets that may be released into the air. These include Extraoral High Evacuation Suction Units, HEPA air filtration systems, CDC approved air purifiers, a disinfecting mist fogger which is used after each patient and special UV lighting which is used to disinfect the entire office each night.
Despite all the expense they have undertaken to protect patients and staff they have committed to not pass along any additional costs to their patients for the preparations made to increase staff and patient safety. While Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph is committed to providing the absolute safest environment for its patients during this time, they have not lost sight of their mission to provide the absolute best care and an unparalleled positive experience for their patients.
After speaking about all the changes, the office has implemented due to COVID, Dr. Mannella stressed that “What hasn't changed is that it will always remain a priority and a passion for our staff to make every visit a fun and positive experience for our patients.” Parents who have visited Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph since the office reopened last month have been in agreement that the office is extremely clean, the procedures enacted make them feel safe and that their kids are as comfortable as ever there.
