NEWTON, NJ - In the opening-round game of the Section 1 Little League Baseball Tournament, The Randolph East All-Stars broke out the big sticks, hammering Pequonnock to take home a 14-2 mercy-rule victory.
A leadoff home run by Alex Marks to open the game gave Randolph an early spark, and a grand slam in the fourth inning from shortstop Ryan Cox helped blow the game open.
A "lights out” three-run blast by Justin Townsend rounded out the scoring and ended the game by mercy rule.
Tyler Hutchinson got the victory on the mound for Randolph. Townsend was 2-for-3 on the game with a double and a homerun.
Marks finished the game 2-for-2, Cox was 4-for-4, and Aden Koenigsberg finished 3-for-3 with two RBI.
