RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph School Board of Education has approved the appointment of longtime athletic director Harvey Cohen as the district’s new Interim Athletic Director. Mr. Cohen, a resident of Whippany, is currently the Interim Athletic Director for Summit High School where he has worked since January of this year.

Mr. Cohen retired as the Director of Athletics at Chatham High School in 2011 after working there since 1997. He is also a member of the Directors’ of Athletics Association of New Jersey, the New Jersey Ice Hockey Coaches Association and the New Jersey Interscholastic Ice Hockey State Tournament Committee. Mr. Cohen has a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College and a master’s degree in physical education from New York University. He has received several honors and awards for his coaching.

Randolph Superintendent Jennifer A. Fano said that she expects Mr. Cohen to begin his new position sometime in July and assist the district during its transition as it searches to find a new athletic director for the district.

In addition, the Randolph Board of Education also approved several other staff appointments at its June 19 meeting including Michaela Kessinger, Natalie van de Vliet and Jaclyn Schantz as new special education teachers for the 2018-19 school year, Rachel Ferrante as a middle school language arts teachers, Crystal Nzegwu as a new We commit to inspiring and empowering all students in Randolph Schools to reach their full potential as unique, responsible and educated members of a global society. elementary teacher at Ironia Elementary School, Victoria Testa as a new high school English teacher, Erin Novak as a new high school teacher of health and physical education and Jennifer Wagener as a new school counselor at Randolph Middle School, all for the 2018-19 school year. Other appointments include Christina Platt as a leave replacement elementary school teacher through November 30, 2018.
