RANDOLPH, NJ- Ironia Elementary School hosted a successful Winterfest on Feb. 4. About 400 people enjoyed the carnival-themed day featuring performances, a teacher/principal pie-eating contest, basket raffles, carnival games, arts and crafts, dancing and lots of food.

Perhaps the highlight of the day was the pie-eating contest where contestants stuck their faces in whipped cream and searched for gummy worms which they had to move to a paper cup with their mouths. New Ironia Vice Principal Thomas Rathjen surprised everyone with a quick victory. Principal David Kricheff asked for a rematch, which he hopes to get at the next Winterfest.

Some students in Mrs. Joan Cirella's class were disappointed because they wanted their teacher to win. They hoped that if their teacher was victorious, there would be no more homework for the rest of the school year.

The fest always features many baskets of exciting prizes, which this year ranged from Walt Disney Wold hopper tickets, to karate classes to tickets to Broadway shows.
