MORRISTOWN, NJ- The Randolph Rams hockey team went to battle against Morristown Beard, one of the toughest opponents they face each season. The game brought out the best in the Rams this season as they rallied from a first period deficit to win 4-3 on a late goal from Junior Dan Janson.
Randolph jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on Janson’s first goal of the game. They quickly fell behind as Morristown Beard, ranked #6 in NJ, ran off three straight goals to finish the first up 3-1.
The Rams rallied behind senior captain Michael Slavin, who scored late in the second and again early in the third to tie the game. Goalie Garret Stenberg kept Randolph in the game, recording 18 saves and shutting out Morristown Beard in the second and third periods.
With only 2:49 left in the game, Slavin and Bryan Early assisted Janson’s game winner, and the Rams held on for the upset win. Janson and Slavin both had 3 points on the game, along with Ken O’Brien who had 3 points, all on assists.
