Mt. Freedom Jewish Center to host Founder and Head of Israel Law Center

The Mt. Freedom Jewish Center, Randolph is very pleased to invite the community to a brunch featuring Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, the founder and lead solicitor of Shurat HaDin, Israel Law Center, on Sunday, April 30 at 11 am.

Identified by Israeli Forbes Magazine as one of the Fifty Most Influential Israeli Women of 2016, by The Jerusalem Post as one of the Most Influential Jews in the world in 2014 and by newspaper Algemeiner as one of the Top 10 Living Jewish Women Role Models in 2015, Ms. Darshan-Leitner will speak on “Fighting Terrorism and Protecting Israel through International Lawsuits”.

By filing lawsuits in courts around the world – including in the United States and Europe – Shurat HaDin is using litigation to go on the legal offensive against Israel’s enemies.

Rabbi Menashe East, spiritual leader of the Mt. Freedom Jewish Center notes the timely relevance of this program, saying that while “these are dangerous times for Israel and the safety of world Jewry….Shurat HaDin reminds us that we are not defenseless.”

Representing hundreds of families of terror victims, Shurat HaDin has won billions of dollars in lawsuit verdicts against Iran and Syria for their roles in sponsoring terrorism. In June this year, Shurat HaDin made clear that it would try to use the legal system to collect on some of these verdicts by placing liens on Boeing’s sale of aircrafts to Iran.

Shurat HaDin has also filed lawsuits on behalf of 20,000 Israelis against the social media giant Facebook for its failure to identify and delete known terrorist accounts that incite terrorism.

Recently, in January 2017, Shurat HaDin took on Twitter. The new lawsuit, on behalf of the families of two victims of terror attacks in Paris and Brussels, alleges Twitter aided and abetted ISIS in carrying out these mass-casualty attacks that killed nearly 200 people and injured hundreds more.

Shurat HaDin is also active in combating the BDS movement – working to support legislation to prohibit and penalize boycotts, exposing organizations that fund BDS activities, and filing legal challenges against unions and academic societies that support and implement BDS activities.

Mt. Freedom Jewish Center’s Israel Affairs Chair and attorney, Linda Cahn who organized the event observes, “We are thrilled that Nitsana will be speaking at our shul, and urge everyone to join us in learning about Shurat HaDin’s work and supporting this extraordinary organization.”

The $18 brunch will take place at the Mt. Freedom Jewish Center, 1209 Sussex Turnpike, Randolph NJ.

RSVP by 4/23 to David in the synagogue office at 973-895-2100 or by email
