OBITUARY OF JARED PLATT

Jared R. Platt, 27, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Jared was born on December 30, 1988 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. He lived in Randolph, NJ for many years before moving to Oak Ridge, NJ last year.

Jared was a world class wrestler. Some of his wrestling accomplishments included: being named captain of the 2007 national powerhouse Blair Academy, All-American honors, multiple Prep National Championships, Junior Nationals freestyle champion in 2007, and gold medals in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2007 Pan American Junior Championships. Jared coached at the Buxton School of Wrestling where he worked alongside his former coach/mentor at Blair Academy, Jeff Buxton.

Jared had many great accomplishments for a young man, however his proudest accomplishment by far was being a loving husband to his wife Candace, and a devoted father to his girls CaiLee and Cara. His true passion in life was his family.

Jared is survived by his wife of two years, Candace (Carnes) Platt; his daughters, CaiLee and Cara; his parents, John and Tracey Platt; his brothers, Ian Platt and his wife Christina, and Cameron Platt and his wife Rachel; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reid and Sandy Carnes; his nieces, Madelyn and Harper; his nephew Lucas; his Grandmothers, Beverley Holleran and Teresa Hixson; his brothers-in-law, Matthew Carnes and Andrew Felter; his dog Caroline; and many other loving family members and friends.

A Celebration of Jared’s Life will include a visitation on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road (Corner of Rt. 206), Chester, NJ (908) 879-3090.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 3PM-5PM at the Buxton School of Wrestling, 4 Middlebury Rd., Unit 11, Randolph, NJ 07869. A Repast will follow at Skylands in Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jared’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ or to the American Diabetes Association http://www.diabetes.org/
