DENVILLE, NJ — On behalf of CheckChek Corporation, Stonefield Engineering & Design, LLC, shared the results of its traffic impact study at a public hearing of the Denville Township Zoning Board of Adjustment on Dec 4.

QuickChek filed an Application for Development with Denville Township on Jan. 16, 2019, to develop a 5,670 square-foot QuickChek food store with fuel sales on land located at the corner of Franklin Road and Route 10 West, adjacent to the jug-handle turn. The site would provide one full-movement driveway along Franklin Road and one right-in/right-out driveway on Route 10 West.

Factoring in traffic volumes associated with Trader Joe’s, Corrado’s Marketplace and five single-family homes that could be built on the undeveloped land behind the proposed QuickChek, the traffic impact study found that development of the site for the proposed QuickChek “would not have a significant impact on the traffic operations of the adjacent roadway network.”

Based on suggestions raised by members of the Denville Township Zoning Board of Adjustment, Denville planning professionals and Denville Township Police Chief Frank Perna, Stonefield recommended the addition of a left-turn lane into the site along Franklin Road northbound, a right-turn lane into the site along Franklin Road southbound and a shoulder along the site’s frontage on Route 10 West, beginning at the jug handle. The traffic impact study concluded that these “proposed changes would facilitate movements into and out of the site and would improve road safety in the site vicinity.”

The next public hearing on QuickChek’s application for variances and design waiver relief is scheduled for Wed., Feb. 19, 2020. Members of the public, including non-Denville residents, are allowed to attend, ask questions and voice concerns.
