RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph boys JV soccer team completed their season Monday Nov. 2 with yet another win. The team compiled an outstanding record of 10 wins, 2 ties, and 1 loss.
Coach Steve Conlon said, “This year was a great season for the Randolph boys JV soccer team. Before each game, I told the boys to leave everything out on the field and they certainly delivered. The boys played very well throughout the season, and more importantly, we had a lot of fun and countless laughs.”
Captained by sophomore Justin Lawrence, and juniors Kyle Maietta and Jack Zimmerman, the team combined tenacious defense with superior finishing in front of the goal to dominate their opponents. It was only a heart breaking loss in a spirited match against Mendham that prevented the boys from reaching their goal of an undefeated season.
The team demonstrated great balance with over half of the team scoring at least 1 goal. Junior Tana Gawe and sophomore Roovens Faustima were the team’s leading scorers having tallied 7 goals each.
Team goalies were sophomore Justin Lawrence and junior Christian Penney, who both had great seasons. However, with two games left in the season, the team found itself with no goalies due to injuries to both keepers. In true team spirit, junior Dan Moserowitz and sophomore Jack DeFuria filled in and combined to record shut outs in those final two games.
In total, The JV rams managed to score 47 goals while only giving up 6. During the 13 regular season games played, the team also recorded 7 shutouts.
