RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph High School boys varsity soccer team is picking up momentum and playing well in the young 2014 season. Coming off three strong games, the Rams' record now stands at 3-2-1.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16 the boys took Morristown to overtime deadlocked at 0-0 in a closely fought battle. Randolph goalie Evan Miele played well, shutting out the Colonials in regulation while recording eight saves on the game. Morristown was able to sneak one by him in OT for the winner.
On Thursday, Sept. 18 the Rams traveled north to play Pope John and came away with a 2-0 victory. Michael Lauria and Mateo Panizza each scored goals, with the assists coming from Nick Shetzline and Jake Corpuz. Miele had three saves in the win.
The Rams stayed on the road to play rival Roxbury on Sunday, where they recorded a 3-1 victory. This time, they were led by goals from Panizza, Ryan Kessler and Walter Zuniga. Kevin Weber, Nick Panvini, and Panizza each had an assist, while Miele anchored the defense and stopped 4 shots to record the win.
The Boys next game is Tuesday, Sept. 23, 4 p.m. at home.
