RANDOLPH, NJ- A friendly Punt, Pass, and Kick competition highlighted the first ever Family BBQ held for Randolph Bulldog youth football players this past Spring.
“We hope that this will be a good way to help both recruitment of players and distributing information to families, said Dan Limone. “It was a great way for new players and parents to meet coaches and others involved in the program. A big topic was concussion awareness and safety protocols.”
The entire football committee participated in coordinating the effort, led by Jerry Davis, Frank Dotro, Dan Limone, Amy Cirella, and Julie and Rob DiLorenzo, among others. Frank Fearon came up with the idea of the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition as a fun thing to add.
The punt pass and kick competition was one with a twist. The kids had a chance to go on the field and compete not just against each other but compete with their one of their parents as well.
The plan is to turn this into an annual event.
“We had spoken about doing something for the kids in the past, along the lines of what Fudruckers does for the baseball program,” said Limone. “After discussion we came up with the idea of having a barbecue for the whole program including families.”
According to Limone, the overall response was great. The kids had fun and the parents felt it was a great way to meet the coaches.
